Dr. Seuss

It was Dr. Seuss' Birthday on Sunday. So this month we will be working on earning a invitation to his birthday party! His party will be on Friday, March 21st. We each have a punch card and every time we are spotted giving our best, we will earn another check mark! 

Today we read the book "The Cat in the Hat." On the last page the story asks, "What would you do, if your mother asked you?"Here is their comments on if they would tell their mother's if the cat in the hat came and made a mess, or if they would fib and not tell you! Read their creative comments!

Happy Birthday Dr. Seuss!

This Friday we celebrated the birthday of Dr. Seuss!  All week we read Dr. Seuss books to prepare ourselves for his birthday party! We learned a lot about Dr. Seuss and a lot about his life! 

I truly adore Dr. Seuss. His creative imagination, his play on repetitive and rhyming words, and his ability to make everyone want to read more - from the creative Cat in the Hat to Oh the Thinks You Can Think! My personal favorite is "One Fish, Two Fish, Red Fish, Blue Fish" simply because it was one of the first books I "mastered." I can still recite most of that book with my eyes shut!

To celebrate his birthday we did five 30 minute stations. Each class got to go to each classroom. Each classroom had a different book with a different activity. The students had a lot of fun and our morning flew by!

We read the Cat in the Hat this week and they had to answer what they would do if your mother asked you if the Cat in the Hat came into their house that day. Hilarious and very honest results! Oh the joys of teaching Kindergarten :)

We are wishing Dr. Seuss a happy 108th birthday, and I hope that his stories continue to encourage every young student to read and enjoy reading!
